Sports Vision Training & Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

   Athletes, especially those in visually demanding sports, require remarkable visual skills. The ability to focus, track fast-moving objects, and react quickly can reduce the chances of traumatic brain injury (TBI). Edgewood Eye Center is proud to offer TBI and concussion rehabilitation services for new and established patients. With our training, we aim to reduce the incidence of TBI to the athlete as well as accelerate their recovery and return to play if they suffer a TBI.  Additionally, the training provides athletes a competitive edge which could be the difference between a win or a loss.
   Our sports vision training facility combines the knowledge and experience of leaders in the field of vision, neuro-cognition, and sports performance. Our program is dedicated to improving the visual-cognitive skills of athletes.

   With regard to college football, the American Athletic Conference (AAC) was averaging 12.1 concussions per year.  With the application of neuro visual training, the AAC’s average for concussions was reduced to 3.5 per year(1). 

   Our neuro visual training will be tailored for each individual athlete with the goal of reducing concussion incidence and accelerate their return to play safely.

   eSports is the fastest growing sport at both the professional and collegiate level. Athletes undergoing performance vision training are able to "hyper focus" increasing their concentration, awareness, and reaction response.  Not only are these athletes able to do this with football, soccer, or baseball, but also with video games.  eSports is the latest field that is utilizing sports vision to push the limits of athletes.  Let us make your athlete see and play faster!

   Our Sports Vision Training is an 8 week program. Athletes will start with a comprehensive eye exam to analyze their ocular health and vision correction. The following initial sports vision encounter will collect baseline data including Dynavision reaction times, neuro-visual cognition, and accommodation. A robust training schedule will be established with the athlete and tailored to their specific needs.  Our aim will be to improve and maintain their visual strengths as well as improve their weaknesses.
