Digital Retinal Imaging

This technology allows the doctor to check the health of the back of the eye called the retina. A special digital camera captures this image and stores it electronically. The retina is critical to your vision as it focuses light that enters your eye and sends that information to your brain. This imaging is especially useful in health conditions such as diabetes and hypertension.

Corneal Topography

Corneal Mapping or topography is a process involving the measurement of the cornea. The doctor will use this to collect information about the front surface of your eye, the cornea. This is done to ensure that there aren’t any abnormalities of the cornea. The cornea allows light to enter your eye and aids in helping you see a clear image.

Eye Pressure Test

This checks the intraocular pressure (IOP) in your eye. Higher pressures can be suggestive of diseases like Glaucoma, which makes this test crucial to every comprehensive exam. This test involves eye drops which numb the eye, followed by a small device that checks the eye pressure.

Optical Coherence Tomography

The OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) scans the layers of your retina and optic nerve for eye diseases. This test uses light to show the doctor detailed images that’s both painless and

Refraction Exam

This is how you see the world and things around you. When there is an issue with the refraction of your eye, you may experience blurry vision. The main refractive issues are nearsightedness (Myopia), farsightedness, and astigmatism. All of which affect the way light enters the eye. The doctor may perform this test by shining a light into your eyes or by using a device called a phoropter.

Visual Acuity Test

Visual Acuity is defined as the ability to see sharp, clear images from different distances. Your visual acuity is determined by the smallest row of letters that you can read. This is crucial to determining and maintaining your visual potential.

Peripheral Vision Assesment

Peripheral Vision is your side vision while your head isn’t moving. You will be instructed to focus on something directly in front of you while asked what you see to the side or slightly away from that object. This determines any loss of peripheral vision, which can indicate a number of eye diseases such as Glaucoma, Retinitis Pigmentosa, or even Diabetic Retinopathy.
